"Divertimento - An orchestra for everyone" (F 2023)

Zahia Ziouani is 17 years old, full of dreams and ambitious goals. Together with her twin sister Fettouma, she attends the elite Paris Conservatory. Classical music has dominated her life since childhood. But Zahia doesn't just want to play, she also wants to set the tone and become a conductor! That a young woman should conduct a symphony orchestra? And with Algerian roots to boot? Unthinkable! So how do you manage to pursue this ambitious plan as a young woman and without the necessary small change? With courage, heart, mind and the extraordinary intention of founding her own orchestra: Divertimento.

Niels Arestrup ("Butterfly and Diving Bell", "Return to Montauk") plays the role of star conductor Sergiu Celibidache alongside the excellent young ensemble in this French feel-good comedy with high standards.

"Divertimento - An Orchestra for All" was awarded the main prize at the 33rd Emden-Norderney International Film Festival and shows that it is worth fighting for your dream against all external odds.
