Cutter trip to the island "Großer Werder" and discovery of the island world under expert guidance.
The Krakow Upper Lake is a nationally renowned nature reserve of national and international importance and has been closed to all boat traffic since the mid-1970s due to its abundance of water birds. Its eight wharfs are breeding grounds for numerous species of songbirds and waterfowl, with the unwooded Großer Werder with its colony of black-headed gulls being particularly important. The lake's islands and silted areas are also home to many botanical rarities.
Once a year, interested nature lovers have the opportunity to explore the islands of Krakow's Upper Lake on a guided excursion.
On Saturday, 17.05.2025 from 09:00 a.m., the next excursion on the Krakow Upper Lake will take place for two groups of 20 people each.
A cutter from the Krakow Lake Sports Club will take you to the Großer Werder, which will then be explored on a hike under the guidance of area manager Dr. Sebastian Lorenz. There will be explanations about the history of the landscape and land use of the Werder as well as ornithological and geobotanical features. Insights into the breeding colonies of black-headed gulls and cormorants are highlights of the excursion.
