The city museum presents current new acquisitions and exciting "rediscoveries" about Bergen's history, historical personalities and more.
Until September 13, 2024, the small depot exhibition will showcase recent acquisitions and donations relating to the history of Bergen and historical life on the Island of Rügen. Exhibits on the Bergen dairy and the Rügen bathing boy, photographs of the 375th anniversary celebrations and the previously unknown design by Ulrich Müther from 1969 for the planned indoor swimming pool shed light on various facets of Bergen. The commemoration of historical personalities who influenced life in Bergen and on Rügen in large and small ways is also one of the tasks of the town museum. In this context, craftsmen such as Wilhelm "Opa" Range, the gendarmerie master Emil Buttke and the Jewish merchant Albert Noack should be mentioned. The small exhibition is rounded off by a lost finding book on the Bergen ladies' convent and other exhibits.
The depot exhibition reflects the mission statement of the town museum and its broad-based collection: to preserve the history of Bergen and the Island of Rügen for future generations. The donations and purchases clearly demonstrate the desire to preserve the memory of past people and living conditions.
