On 06.06. Dave Goodman will move the audience with his singing, stories and humor at the Blues and Boogie Days in the Kunsthalle Kühlungsborn.
Canadian Dave Goodman is a musical chameleon. Growing up in a large family in British Columbia, where music was sung and played almost every day, he started playing guitar at the age of 12, mainly blues and rock music. One of his great role models was the blues guitarist Dave Vidal.
As a teenager, Dave became more and more interested in jazz. At the age of 17, he was voted "Top High School Jazz Guitarist" and invited to play in honor of Canadian jazz legend Phil Nimmons. He then studied music at Vancouver College.
After many years in Canada and the USA, Dave Goodman landed in Bremen at the end of the 1990s, where he has lived ever since. He wrote his first songs and developed more and more into a singer/songwriter. At the same time, he began to apply his phenomenal dexterity to the acoustic guitar.
In his multifaceted music, his early musical influences are just as audible as the color palette of Anglo-American and Irish-Celtic music, which he inherited through his mother's genes. This range makes it impossible to categorize him as a singer/songwriter in any genre. Goodman's impressive singing voice varies from a sensitive timbre in ballad-like pieces to glissando-like blues. His songs are usually very personal and reflect the images of his life and his travels.
Dave Goodman now tours throughout Europe and North America. He usually sings and plays solo - including as support for Peter Maffey and Joan Armatrading - and also with his own trio or as a congenial guitarist for other musicians.
He is often invited to guitar festivals in Europe and Asia and regularly gives workshops as a teacher in Italy, France and Germany.
On stage, Dave Goodman is a musician, storyteller and entertainer all rolled into one. His rare talent for combining world-class virtuoso guitar technique with impressive vocals, stories and humor make his concerts a unique experience.
