Bull - Byrd - Sweelinck
One musician, one instrument, 28 composers: Festival prizewinner and jack-of-all-trades Kit Armstrong travels with the audience through the ages. Whether attending one or all five of the concerts he presents, the world of piano literature opens up in a completely new way through the eyes of this curious and enthusiastic virtuoso.
Festival Prize winner Kit Armstrong begins his monumental project "Five Centuries of Piano Music" with the first heyday of keyboard music. Although the works of John Bull, William Byrd and his fellow composers are rarely heard rarities for us today, they represented the first high point of keyboard music at that time - for Armstrong, who is always enthusiastically searching for new challenges and unknown works, definitely the "Golden Age". He sees this as the origin of everything that would later emerge for keyboard instruments up to the modern piano: "William Byrd and John Bull created a cosmos - the cosmos of piano music as it still exists today".
