The authentic duo "Sveriges Vänner" communicates Swedish customs with their songs and organizes a musical journey through the Nordic seasons. The Wapelbad audience feels magically drawn in, completely fills the seating circle and applauds with great pleasure. The name "Sweden's Friends" characterizes the intention of the mixed duo, which virtuously combines regional studies and tradition with music and poetry. Gudrun Selle and Johannes Uhlmann have come to Gütersloh from Lake Störmthal in the Neuseenland region south of Leipzig to acoustically convey the cultural characteristics of Sweden to an extremely interested audience.
"We are now taking you to the far north, with old traditional music. You will notice that there is a lot of dance music. There are a lot of songs and I will always give you a little introduction so that you know what I'm singing about," explains Gudrun Selle after the opener "Böl Olles Schottis". The music teacher sings, plays recorders in various ranges or beats the rhythm on a skin-covered frame drum. Johannes Uhlmann accompanies the songs with a diatonic accordion, which also provides rich bass tones. He also provides the second voice, which is full of harmony.
