Choir concert with the Thuringian Boys Choir
Ute Kaiser - vocals
Annette Maye - clarinet, bass clarinet
Klaus Kugel - percussion, sound objects, gongs
"In music, God has left mankind the memory of paradise lost."
This quote from Hildegard von Bingen (1098 -1179) could not better describe the music of the SCIVIAS Trio.
The compositions of the great universal scholar of the Middle Ages form the starting point and breath of the SCIVIAS Trio, which consists of internationally renowned musicians.
With her clear voice, vocalist Ute Kaiser follows Hildegard's 1000-year-old melodies and texts, which continue to fascinate with their radiance and spiritual depth. Sometimes in duet with clarinettist Annette Maye, sometimes carried on the rhythmic soundscapes of percussionist Klaus Kugel, a music of meditative expansiveness and powerful intensity is created.
In her playing, Annette Maye (WDR Jazz Prize) reflects the development of modern jazz as well as contemporary world music. "Klaus Kugel is one of the most subtle drummers" (Frankfurter Rundschau). In addition to his extensive percussion set, he also uses gongs, tubular bells, sound disks and a ballast side.
A concert by SCIVIAS is an archaic, timelessly beautiful listening experience.
In recent years, the trio has performed with great success in St. Mary's Church in Rostock, Jerichow Monastery and Alternberg Cathedral, among others, and will also be coming to Röbel this summer.
