True to their motto "Be happy and sink" - handmade music and lyrics with rough Mecklenburg charm and subtle to profound wit
In keeping with their credo "Entertainment not below the posture" and their motto "Be happy and sink", the Melodealer offer an unusual combination of handmade music with bouzouki, bass, clarinet and accordion and their own German lyrics. The quartet from the Rostock coast combines raw Mecklenburg charm with subtle to profound wit, and doesn't spare tender poetry either. Affectionately mixed with maritime impulses, they take the audience on a whimsical musical cruise full of sea ambiguities.
The "Melodealen" is the use of existing melodies in combination with new, original lyrics, which often bear a clear satirical signature, inspired by many years of experience in political cabaret, but also take the mickey out of interpersonal relationships. Always consistently with the claim to offer good entertainment not under the attitude.
The repertoire is musically characterized by the traditional music of Ireland, but also by Eastern European influences. Folk meets chanson, song-like music is combined with elements of rock and jazz. The Melodealer play regularly at festivals and now at the Alter Pferdestall Fahren.
