An animated picture book based on the Brothers Grimm
Director and play: Jürgen Wicht
Stage and characters: Ron Holthus
Costume: Kornelia Weichert
Hansel and Gretel, who grow up in abject poverty and are abandoned by their parents, have to find their own way. The well-known story is told in a child-friendly way and the young audience can discover hidden things behind the mysterious doors and flaps of the picture book stage and find out that solidarity and imagination are more powerful than evil witches.
The story is told in the narrative style of Fallersleben and the Brothers Grimm, with flat figures and a romantic stage setting. The siblings Hansel and Gretel experience deceptions, succumb to temptations, overcome dangers and solve problems. The children's self-assertion against the adults is impressive and gives you the courage to go your own way.
