Orderly chaos
Three days - three string quartets: the renowned Kuss Quartet has invited two up-and-coming ensembles and other musical friends to make music together, try out new ideas and take a closer look at one or two masterpieces in front of an audience. An entertaining and intense musical experience is guaranteed!
"One must still have chaos in oneself to give birth to a dancing star", as Friedrich Nietzsche said. The Chaos String Quartet lives up to its name when it begins this afternoon's program in Boldevitz with a musical "chaos" from the ballet "Les élémens" by baroque composer Jean-Féry Rebel. This introduction will be contrasted with works that stand for order and structure: Bach's "Art of Fugue" and Beethoven's "Great Fugue". Admittedly, these structures are extremely complex, which is why contemporary voices spoke of "Babylonian confusion" in the case of Beethoven's impressive work. Today we would call it "unconventional", and in this quality and in its great artistry, the Great Fugue continues to captivate the music world to this day.
