Reading & Discussion | Moderation: Prof. Holger Helbig (University of Rostock)
The Uwe Johnson Society turns 15 and invites you to its birthday party. One of its members, Charly Hübner, explains how he found Johnson and why his books have been with him ever since: "He is the author of my life". The actor and director talks about how Johnson's world helps him to better understand his own. When reality becomes incomprehensible, you can seek refuge in Johnson's laconicism.
In conversation with Holger Helbig (holder of the Uwe Johnson Professorship at the University of Rostock), Hübner will read texts by Johnson - and from his own book about his relationship with the author: "Wenn du wüsstest, was ich weiß ..." (Suhrkamp Verlag).
Charly Hübner, born in Neustrelitz in 1972, is an actor, director and narrator of radio plays and audio books. He has received numerous awards, including the Bavarian Television Prize, the Grimme Prize, the German Television Prize and the German Audio Book Prize. He lives with his family in Hamburg.
