In an illustrated lecture, the speaker Heiko K. Voss will take you on a discovery tour through the garden.
The loss of biodiversity is a major topic in the media and everyone involved is concerned about the figures on the decline in species. But what can each individual do about it for themselves and in their own garden?
Heiko K. Voss and his wife have found a way and a name for it in their large, unspoiled garden. "Abstinent gardening" interferes as little as possible with the processes of nature, which on the other hand gives them plenty of free time to observe the animals, mainly insects and spiders, in their habitat. Over the past few years, the diversity of animal species and the number of individuals has steadily increased. There are neither weeds nor vermin in Heiko K. Voss' garden. Instead, there are all the more interesting animals, which Voss has captured with his camera. The variety of shapes, colors and strategies in the animal kingdom of the home garden are stunning, exciting and poignant. The lecture will take you on a journey of discovery into the amazing nature of the local garden.
Heiko K. Voss has already recorded his impressions in writing. His book "Artenvielfalt im naturbelassenen Garten" was even awarded the Garden Book Prize of the German Horticultural Society this year.
You can look forward to a richly illustrated insight and an entertaining story in which the speaker's personal thoughts are complemented by a sound scientific basis.
The free lecture is part of the accompanying program to the current special exhibition in the Müritzeum "Multifaceted Insects - Diversity | Endangerment | Protection".
