Experience old crafts and jugglery and delicious food and drink in a medieval monastery setting in Rühn near Bützow.
Delicious food and drink and new impressions of old crafts - that's what you can do on the first weekend in May at Rühn Monastery near Bützow in the heart of Mecklenburg.
The Great Monastery Market in Rühn is not one of the many "medieval markets", but focuses primarily on authenticity. Among the 90 or so craftspeople from all over Germany and abroad, there are a number of traditional craftspeople and those who use old craft techniques to create very modern, artistic everyday objects and works of art or grow historical perennials and herbs - hobby gardeners also get their money's worth in Rühn.
There is plenty to get involved in: Children and adults can make pottery, do archery, look over the stonemason's shoulder and, and, and... For the little ones, there is a fairytale tent, a pedal carousel, lots of different children's games and they can watch the jugglers while their parents explore the market.
For the first time: a falconry with demonstrations in the monastery park.
In recent years, the monastery market in Rühn has become an established, large market that is known beyond the borders of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. More than 6000 visitors come regularly.
