The music of the guitar duo Peter Autschbach & Ralf Illenberger has something of the breath of large and wide landscapes. The sensitive or sometimes robust sounds leave intense impressions as they pass by; they are quasi landscape descriptions for their own, beguilingly beautiful sound film, which emerges as a personal road movie as if by itself while listening. The two musicians play with virtuosity, without succumbing to speed mania; contemporary, but at the same time timeless and completely independent. The listener has the impression of a single, large, multi-stringed guitar, where it seems irrelevant which of the two is playing what. Autschbach and Illenberger are two masters of their craft who approach the music together intuitively, spontaneously and harmoniously, as documented on the three successful albums "No Boundaries", "One Mind" and "Zero Gravity". The ideas for their compositions were communicated by the two across the pond, as Ralf Illenberger lived in Arizona for decades. The unmistakable feature of their music is their inspired and captivating playing: on 6- and 12-string guitars, the duo offers a 5-star menu for connoisseurs of acoustic guitar music, as the two impressively demonstrate how intense and exciting a musical dialog between two equal partners can be.
