The rattling of dragonfly wings interweaves with the harp-like tones of the array mbira - a rare musical instrument that is only found three times in Europe. Nature-loving musician and sound researcher Frank Wendeberg brings both with him: He will be layering the sounds of insects and other animals under his self-created melodious compositions, played on unusual acoustic instruments. On Saturday, 01.06.2024 at 19:30, this extraordinary music will emerge from Frank Wendeberg's "cocoon hands" at the Müritzeum, in the middle of the special exhibition "Multifaceted Insects".
The audience has a choice: they can listen from a fixed seat or walk to another chair between the pieces of music - and thus experience the part of the exhibition in the Müritzeum forum from different listening and viewing angles ... just like insects "from flower to flower". The extraordinary musical listening experience lasts about 1 hour and then leaves time to talk to the artist about his unusual sound instruments.
Personal details: Frank Wendeberg is a psychologist, musician and sound researcher from Regensburg. His musical style: Melodious in a dialog between world music, classical music and jazz. His instruments: Array mbira, vibraphone, handpan, percussion. Together with his wife Ursula Wendeberg, he has developed the acoustic music project "In harmony with nature. On the sound carpet of the wilderness". Highly sensitive microphones captured brilliant natural voices from all 16 German national parks, which he incorporates into his musical pieces. The concert at the Müritzeum is a stop on his Germany-wide multi-sound tour "Natur-Klang-Konzerte an besonderen Orten". Admission is free - a hat at the exit collects donations for the musician's fee.
