After her first novel "Niemand ist bei den Kälbern", Alina Herbing's second book is once again set in the Mecklenburg countryside. And once again, the reader cannot expect an idyllic setting.
Madeleine lives with her sister and mother on a dilapidated farm in Mecklenburg. This is where her mother fulfilled her dream of an anti-capitalist life in the countryside after reunification. After the departure of her father and brothers, numerous animals now populate the house, to which her mother devotes all her attention. While Madeleine checks off her dreams in the Quelle catalog and waits for what others call the best time of her life.
