A canoe tour on the Peene between Lake Teterow and Lake Kummerow. The adventurous section with small currents and sometimes low water levels is completed with provided canoes and promises an exciting experience. The canoe tour is therefore not suitable for beginners.
The Peene is also known as the "Amazon of the North" due to its many tributaries. There are the North, East and West Peene, the Little Peene, the Teterow Peene or simply the Peene and countless other tributaries with and without names. The term Peene comes from the Slavic and means something like "moving water" or simply "river". One of these rivers, where the Kleine Peene, Nordpeene and Teterower Peene join the actual Peene, leads from Lake Teterow to Lake Kummerow. The Peene meanders eastwards, sometimes quite overgrown and enchanted, sometimes with low water levels, but also with small currents. We want to tackle this adventurous section on a canoe tour.
The meeting point is at the canoe club in Malchin. From there, a shuttle will take us to the starting point on the Nordpeene. The canoes will be provided by the Malchin Canoe Club, who will also take care of the shuttle. A contribution towards expenses of 25 euros is payable for this. The exact tour depends on the weather and will only be announced at the start. The nature park is accepting registrations until May 23 by calling 0385 588 648 30.
We would like to emphasize that the paddle tour is not suitable for beginners and that you should be in good physical condition.
