Discover what lives in our mill pond
Armed with landing nets and buckets, we go to the mill pond and catch a variety of animals from the water. We take a lot of time to fish in different places and collect many small inhabitants of the pond. When the buckets are full and crawling and swimming, we take magnifying glasses and identification material and take a close look at the animals we have caught. Can you spot a Greater Lovellid larva or a water scorpion? How many antennae does a water flea have? At the end of the day, you can learn something about the water quality of the pond from the collected animals.
Each activity day can also be booked on any other day.
