The two musicians Marco Ponce Kärgel and Sven Schneider play their own instrumental compositions in a delicate, energetic and expressive manner. In wondrous worlds of sound, beautiful melodies meet weird sounds, intertwined rhythms meet clear structures - held together by the open-ear interplay of the two virtuoso guitarists.
With their acoustic guitars, the two musicians seduce their audience on a journey into their very own cosmos of sound, and the reduction to the essentials in the music - rhythm and melody - creates space for the listener's own images in their head.
The word "ilimitado" comes from the Spanish and stands for the unlimited. A bit like the origin and the musical work of the two musicians.
Berlin guitarist Marco Ponce Kärgel, who has Spanish roots, has always been interested in the spaces in between and likes to explore what can be heard in music beyond the notes. He is fascinated by sounds and atmospheres, places where listening habits can be abducted, dismantled and reassembled. In 2014, he took Franz Schubert's "Winterreise" and completely rearranged it for electric guitar. Songwriter Manfred Maurenbrecher recited the lyrics for him. Marco Ponce Kärgel usually had his acoustic guitar in the second row. With ilimitado, he leaves effects and distortion aside and devotes himself to the natural sound of the guitar.
Sven Schneider originally comes from the northern Black Forest and has lived in Berlin since 1997. He made his first compositions for acoustic guitar at the age of 13, a year later he was performing in a trio with two acoustic guitars and percussion. At the beginning of the 90s, he recorded his first CD with his own compositions with the indie guitar wave pop band waitingfor? and toured Germany, Italy and France. Whether on the electric guitar, the classical guitar or the acoustic guitar, with or without effects, he plays and sets the notes between many musical styles and musically unites seemingly contradictory things into a greater whole.
