Special open-air concert event in the garden to mark the 30th anniversary of the Kulturforum
A very special highlight of the 30th anniversary year of the Kulturforum Schleswig-Holstein-Haus is this year's a cappella festival.
The invited vocal ensembles offer a multifaceted and representative insight into the broad spectrum of the a cappella music scene.
The male chamber choirffortissibrosoriginated at the J.W. von Goethe Music High School in Schwerin. In 2019, the year of its foundation, the ensemble started by participating in the Limburg Male Choir Festival as the youngest and only choir from northern Germany, where it received a gold diploma and the special prize for the best interpretation of a romantic choral work. At the end of April 2022, ffortissibros took part in the world's largest male choir competition, the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival, and won first place in the category and overall rankings. A particular focus of the work is on premiering works by forgotten and new composers across genre boundaries.
Vocoder, that is: Marie, Lena, Toni, Nico, Henning and Patrick. They met in Hamburg during their music studies and what began as a fun project in 2016 turned into pure seriousness after our first King's Singers masterclass: sharing their love of a cappella music with the outside world. Whether jazz, folk songs or rock'n'roll - they dedicate themselves to every genre. The compositional achievements of baritone Henning Wölk, who arranges and composes pieces tailor-made for them, are particularly outstanding. Their ensemble career is now adorned with numerous concerts at home and abroad, master classes with the King's Singers, appearances at festivals (SHMF) and audience and jury prizes at (inter)national competitions.
Mutti's childrentake us on a musically naughty journey from Sophie Hunger to Pharrell Williams and Billy Idol to Bibi & Tina. The three performers Claudia Graue, Marcus Melzwig and Christopher Nell are outstanding character actors and manage to turn every musical number into a chamber play of emotions with the smallest of gestures and eye movements. They met as drama students at university and now live in Leipzig and Berlin. In 2004, they founded their vocal ensemble Muttis Kinder. They specialized in a cappella singing because they felt that they could not master any instrument as well as their voices. Although they did not perform in a classical a cappella formation (at least four singers, one for each voice part), they soon enjoyed great success with their characteristic style of performance. At times, they performed 140 concerts a year. They received various critics' and audience awards at festivals.
