Farm Shops, Museums, Historical Buildings, Guided museum excursion, family-friendly, barrier-free, marry and celebrate

The museum's exhibitions invite you to travel back in time through the history of the town and the former island of Zingst. Other focal points are shipbuilding and shipping history, Zingster Künstler and Zingst in art. The museum courtyard is a place with many possibilities: Creative offers in the Pommernstube, amber workshop, delicacies in the museum bakery and in the Café Alt-Zingst, museum barn with registry office and seasonal organic and adventure market!

The museum is divided into four exhibition areas: The gallery shows selected works by various artists from the period between 1872 and 1980, mainly works by Max Hünten, Franz Pflugradt, Elisabeth Büchsel, Louis Douzette and Kurt Klamann. Using masterfully crafted ship models, the development of sailing and shipbuilding from the 17th to 20th centuries can be traced in the connecting structure made of glass.

The data and descriptions lead to events that have significantly influenced the course of history. On the ground floor of the old captain's house, the exhibitions show the history of the island and the town from the first documentary references, through the time under Swedish rule, to its development as a seaside resort. The well-known poet Martha Müller-Grählert from Zingst also has her say. In addition, several rooms show how one once lived in Zingst. The exhibition on the upper floor is dedicated to the great sail-ship era in Zingst, which has taken place in the 18th and 19th centuries. Ship portraits in the blue gallery, tools and videos in the carpenter's workshop, as well as numerous exhibits and documents in the themed rooms, lead vividly through the history of the seafarers from Zingst in recent centuries.

The idyllic museum yard area combines history and living traditions with modern facilities for the entire family and all age groups:

  • romantic garden with garden pavilion
  • museum barn with farmer's garden and Darss House Doors
  • "Pommernstube" with a wide range of creative workshops
  • Delicacies at the court bakery and in the Café Alt-Zingst
  • Amber workshop "Strandgut", in which you can grind your own amber and get hold of one or the other piece of jewellery.
  • various events, such as seasonal organic and adventure market, concerts and festivals

Entrance to the museum courtyard is free of charge. Admission to the museum: Adults 5 € / person, reduced fare 4 € / person, children up to 18 years free of charge, groups (11 persons ore more) 3€ / person
