The consequences of the Thirty Years' War were halfway over when Mecklenburg was once again the scene of battles between foreign powers. Sweden and Denmark, engaged in the Nordic War (1700-1721), met at Gadebusch in 1712 and ensured that the small town still has historical significance today.
The Banzkow church is a neo-Gothic church from the 19th centuryt and home of the Banzkow seated Madonna.
The Louisen Mausoleum, which Duke Friedrich Franz I had built for Duchess Luise, who died in 1808, is located in Ludwigslust Palace Park. The neoclassical building was erected between 1809 and 1810. In addition to Duchess Luise, eight other members of the ducal family are buried there.
The small church, whose fieldstone choir probably dates back to the late 12th century, is idyllically located on the outskirts of Neuenkirchen.

If you drive through the village of Schildfeld, you will inevitably pass the old Schildmühle. It looks abandoned, but a closer look reveals that renovation work has begun in recent years.
In 1851, the water mill in Neu Kaliß was built and served the economy of the small village on the Elde River for over a century. It was shut down in 1992. Today it supplies the community with electricity as a hydroelectric power plant.

Several fires in the 16th and 17th centuries almost completely destroyed Schwerin's medieval city center. A small half-timbered house from that time has nevertheless been preserved. The Kommodenhäuschen is a favorite photo spot.
Probably the most imposing building in Ludwigsluster Kanalstraße is No. 26. This building was erected by court architect Georg Friedrich Groß in 1829/30 for the so-called "Lehrerseminar".
Anyone driving through the small village of Düssin from the direction of Boizenburg will see the imposing red clinker brick building with its mighty hipped roof and the small tower on top, which is somewhat reminiscent of the spire of the Hamburg Michel, from afar.
In the 19th century, the people of Schwerin turned a former mill pond into a gem with a promenade surrounded by linden trees and a sun terrace in the middle of the city. On the Pfaffenteich the passenger ferry Petermännchen shuttles during the season.
In honor of the victims of the Nazi regime, a monument made of sandstone with a surrounding relief was erected at the basin in 1951. This is located in the visual axis between the castle and the town church and was designed by the Ludwigslust graphic artist and painter Herbert Bartholomäus.
The very name Wittenburg indicates that there must have been a castle here once. This was destroyed in 1150 by Henry the Lion and replaced by a new castle complex, on the foundation of which the office tower was built in 1848.
The memorial "The Mother" is located on the federal highway 321 between Raben Steinfeld and Schwerin at the height of the Störkanal. As a reminder for future generations and in reverence for the victims of National Socialism, it was inaugurated in 1975 and still commemorates the death march of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp inmates.
Mining in Malliß has a long history. Salt was mined in the Conow salt works as early as 1304, clay mining began in the middle of the 16th century, and lignite mining was started underground in the so-called Friedrich Franz field around 1817.
Since June 2008, the town of Wittenburg has been a member of the "Legends and Fairy Tales Route" association. Like all the other member towns, Wittenburg has its own original fairy tale character: the legendary Undine at her enchanted spring.

Anyone coming to Hagenow from the direction of Schwerin will see the municipal water tower of Hagenow from afar. It supplied the inhabitants with drinking water until the 1970s, when it was decommissioned. After reconstruction in the 1990s, it is now used as a residential and commercial building.

The catholic church St. Anna is located in the city centre. The building was erected in the late 18th century. There are services and concerts taking place on a regular basis. St. Anna houses a significant collection of antique books and bibles.
In the Lewitz village of Bahlenhüschen, an old forestry barn has been lovingly reconstructed. The barn doors are regularly opened for visitors for numerous events.
The town of Neustadt-Glewe was first mentioned in 1248 and, in addition to the famous Neustadt Castle, also boasts a historic old town characterized by half-timbered buildings. A special highlight is the baroque town hall, which was completed in 1806 and extensively renovated in 1996.
The late baroque village church was built from 1765 to 1768 and stands surrounded by old lime trees on an octagonal churchyard. Its inventory from the Rococo period has also been preserved - a rare exception in Mecklenburg.
Small but nice: "Dat lütt Museum" is located in the former parsonage in the community of Alt Jabel. Founded in 1999, it displays interesting facts about village history, witch hunts in the Griesen region and village schools in the Jabel Heath on three floors. Throughout the year, several exhibitions complement the permanent offer.

The village church of Redefin was built between 1843 and 1847 as a neo-Gothic brick building with a front west facade and a central tower, and the interior is also in Gothic style. The church houses the oldest organ in Mecklenburg.

A technical school was opened in Neustadt-Glewe as early as 1882. However, the technical secondary school for the building trade and for mechanical and mill engineering was initially located at the historic castle. Six kilometers south of Hagenow lies the Warlitz manor house, built in 1620 by the Danish Colonel von Pentz. After many changes of ownership, the estate is now privately owned.
Although the Kummer mill is the tallest building in the village, you have to look a little closer to discover it. It is located somewhat off the main roads, well hidden behind huge trees, and is therefore often not even noticed by people passing through.

In the middle of the field between Dammereez and Dersenow stands a stone cross. The roughly hewn red granite commemorates a murder that is said to have taken place at that spot in the late Middle Ages.
The neo-Gothic stately brick building, one of the largest in the region, was built in 1875-1880 on a cruciform ground plan by the architect and preservationist Georg Daniel. Both inside and outside, the church is an imposing neo-Gothic ensemble, pure in style.
The megalithic tomb of Stralendorf, about 125 meters long, is about 4500 years old.

The Banzkow potato mouse from Stein has been welcoming guests from near and far on the village square since 2000. On special occasions in the village life the mouse is dressed in an original way. It stands in the middle of several typical erratic blocks, which bear the medals won in state, national and European competitions.

The "Alter Friedhof" is a historic graveyard founded in victorian times. It was planned by master builder Demmler and master gardener Klett. Many tombs and graves belong to notable members of Schwerin court and important persons of Schwerin's history. Many graves are protected as historic buildings and artwork. The Historic Cemetery is at the same time a beautifully composed landscape park.
