The tour begins in the lagoon town of Ueckermünde with a detour to the town harbor. The maritime flair duly puts cyclists in the right mood for the journey. Between the lagoon beaches and the lush forests of the Ueckermünde Heath lie quaint fishing villages and numerous birds breed in the lagoon meadows just outside Anklam. A visit to the Lilienthal Museum in the birthplace of the airplane pioneer provides a change of pace.
Over the Zecherin bascule bridge the way leads to the Island of Usedom. The hinterland of the imperial spas spoils you with heavenly peace and fresh fish. Behind the 69-meter-high Golm, the imperial resort of Ahlbeck shines in all its beauty. The famous pier towers above the rushing Baltic Sea. The Polish town of Swinoujscie also enchants with its magnificent resort architecture.
A ferry takes cyclists to the sister island of Wolin. The route continues along the cliffs and the shores of the Bodden to Miedzyzdroje. There, the 75-meter-high coastline offers an impressive panorama of the entire Pomeranian Bay. On the eastern shore of the Szczecin Lagoon, the trail leads between marshy meadows and a vast forest area to Stepnice. In nearby Czarnocin, a herd of shaggy wild horses grazes in solitude.
The ride through the Odra estuary captivates with exhilarating views of one of the largest rivers in Europe. In the distance, the mighty towers of Szczecin greet us. The city sits on a plateau above the Oder River at the entrance to the Szczecin Lagoon. Today, the former harbor metropolis shines in its old splendor. The last stage begins in the primeval forest of Wkrzanska. The ferry takes you across Lake Neuwarp.
