The name of the trail comes from Hans Fallada's children's book "Fridolin, the cheeky badger", who experiences many adventures in the Feldberg lake landscape. Hans Fallada wrote the story for his daughter Lore as a gift for Christmas 1944. Together with her brother Ulrich, she roamed the wooded hills, the wide outwash plains and the picturesque lakeshores created during the Ice Age in the 1930s. Fallada had settled with his family in the Feldberg lakeland after a strenuous city life in order to finally find peace.
The hike starts in the idyllic village of Carwitz with Hans Fallada's home and his last resting place. Through the center of the old fishing village, the trail leads to the Schmaler Luzin, probably the most beautiful lake in the Feldberger Seenlandschaft. Along the steep shore slopes, the path leads to the Luzin ferry, one of the last hand-operated cable ferries in Europe*. After crossing the lake, the trail passes a walkable moor, through a centuries-old forest and over a hill ridge with a great view back down to the village of Carwitz. It is worth a detour to the Hans-Fallada Museum - a former Büdnerei, which the writer once chose as his residence.
