From Bach to Mumford & Sons
"It should not be called Bach, but the sea!" Beethoven's famous bon mot describes exactly the ten concerts that are particularly inspired by the works of Johann Sebastian Bach this festival summer.
The ensemble Voces8 already enjoys cult status and is celebrating its debut at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival as a guest of the "Focus Bach" series in the Schelfkirche. Based on the art of the master, the eight singers fly musically through the ages in their a cappella performance and blur genre boundaries in the second half of the concert. The Grammy-nominated British vocal ensemble succeeds time and again in making the influence of the Baroque master palpable. From the Renaissance to the modern era, from folk songs to classical jazz and pop, the octet sings with pure style, skill and ease: "very British".
