Guided tour with Dr. Angela Pfennig | garden historian | Stralsund, participation: 7 euros
Stralsund's most beautiful burial ground is the St. Jürgen churchyard in Kniepervorstadt. With its two shady, large avenues of lime trees, the fir and oak trees entwined with ivy, the trees of life and taxus shrubs, the half-decayed, ancient mounds overgrown with evergreens and the newer, carefully tended flowerbeds, it provides the perfect setting for its mourning visitors. It is a document of great cultural and family-historical significance.

St. Jürgen's Cemetery, laid out in 1675 on what is now Hainholzstraße, is the burial place of numerous personalities, without whose work Stralsund's cultural achievements would be inconceivable. Mayors, noblemen, scientists, merchants, doctors, artists, clergymen and military officers rest here who have achieved significance beyond the scope of local history. Some of them will be honored during a biographical tour.
