Anne (Léa Drucker) is a brilliant lawyer who looks after underage victims of abuse and young people in trouble. Together with her partner Pierre (Olivier Rabourdin) and their two adopted daughters, she leads a harmonious family life in a villa on the outskirts of Paris. But when Théo (Samuel Kircher), Pierre's 17-year-old son from a previous marriage, moves in with them, the idyll is quickly shaken. Anne and the rebellious teenager are attracted to each other - even though they know they shouldn't be. After just a short time, a passionate affair develops that not only fundamentally jeopardizes their family, but also their careers...

'L'été dernier - Im letzten Sommer' (2023), Catherine Breillat, known for provocative works from 'Ein wirklich junges Mädchen' (1976) to 'The Last Mistress' (2007), tells an explosive love story in her latest film after a ten-year break from the screen and paints a moving portrait of a woman who puts her bourgeois life at risk with a forbidden love affair. The leading role of the torn Anne is played by the great Léa Drucker (from 'Close' and 'After the Verdict'). But the young Samuel Kircher in his first major role as Théo and Olivier Rabourdin ('Black Box - Dangerous Truth') as Pierre also inspire with nuanced performances. An excitingly honest film that draws its disturbing power from many small emotional moments and the atmospheric images by cinematographer Jeanne Lapoirie ('Benedetta', '120 BPM'). 'Last Summer' is based on the Danish-Swedish film 'Queen' (2018) and celebrated its world premiere in the official competition of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. The German premiere will take place on October 4, 2023 at the 31st Hamburg Film Festival in the presence of Catherine Breillat, with a nationwide German cinema release on January 11, 2024.'L'été dernier - Im letzten Sommer' (2023), told with great insight and sensitivity by Catherine Breillat, known for provocative works from 'Ein wirklich junges Mädchen' (1976) to 'The Last Mistress' (2007), tells an explosive love story in her latest film after a ten-year break from the screen and paints a moving portrait of a woman who puts her bourgeois life at risk with a forbidden love affair.
