Lecture and discussion with Michael Steidel from the Federal Archives, Military Archives Department It is possible to apply to view Stasi files one hour before the start.

The holdings of the Military Archives Department comprise the records (especially subject files, maps, construction plans, photos) of state military agencies from 1867 to the present day: the surviving documents of the Prussian-German Army, the Imperial Navy, the Schutztruppen and the Freikorps, the Reichswehr as well as the Wehrmacht and the National People's Army and the border troops of the GDR. The lecture by Michael Steidel (Federal Archives, Military Archives Department) will provide information on the basic structures of the Federal Archives and will focus in particular on the holdings of the Military Archives Department and the research options available there.

Before and after the event, you will have the opportunity to apply for access to Stasi documents. Please bring a valid identity document with you.

The venue is the Grenzhus Schlagsdorf, which aims to commemorate the inner-German border between the Baltic Sea and the Elbe.
