The artistic productions of the Percussion Community Rostock, the Lysistrate dance theater and the art installation "The Pilgrims" by artist Johann Kralewski, who developed the production "The Dream" with the help of choreographer Silke Gerhardt and Prof. Henrik Schmidt, will come together in Schwerin Cathedral.
Art installation meets music meets dance.
Occasionally, the artists incorporate sound effects into their installation projects. Dance performances with music are part of every stage of human civilization as an independent form of artistic expression. In Schwerin Cathedral, the artistic productions of the Percussion Community Rostock, the Lysistrate dance theater and the art installation "The Pilgrims" by the artist Johann Kralewski come together.
Pilgrimage forms a bridge between the life left behind and its problems and the new, the hopeful, which still has to be painstakingly formed. Apart from acts of war, which entail a total withdrawal of freedom of action, the position of the pilgrim is favored in every ongoing tragedy as the bringer of solutions. Pilgrims have something to do with distance and distance with overview, whereby I understand distance as the ability to gain intellectual freedom in order to drive new developments forward.
Pilgrimage, even in a purely intellectual form such as meditation, is not just an indifferent spectator; pilgrimage is a departure, a willingness to actively take risks and perhaps also to suffer along the way. You can only go on a pilgrimage with light luggage and the spaces are only visited, not occupied. I spontaneously think of Gandhi's "Salt March". Now my installation is about expanding the mental freedom that forms the basis of resilience. The challenges lie ahead of us.
Discover the pilgrim in you.
