April 7, 2024 - Day of the monasteries in MV and "Münster very close"
On Sunday, 07.04.2024, the Gemeinschaft der Klosterstätten in MV e. V. invites you to a cultural tour in the spring. Many doors will be open for the walks in old monastery walls and for insights into the former monastery churches. The monastery sites will show what is being kept alive by towns, communities and parishes, by numerous monastery associations and institutions throughout the country. In Bad Doberan and the region, this day will be combined with the long-standing "Münster ganz nah" (Minster up close) event.
Village churches in the Doberan region open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The medieval church buildings in Althof, Retschow and Steffenshagen as well as the neo-Gothic Protestant forest chapel in Heiligendamm had or have a close connection to the Doberan monastery and minster. The sponsoring associations and parishes are open to you. Guided tours as well as coffee and cake or juice and cookies are offered at some of the sites. Donations for the preservation of the respective church are requested.
Doberan Minster with roof area, library and ossuary open free of charge from 3-6 pm
You can see and experience Doberan Minster from 3-6 p.m. with the library, the roof area with vaulted ceiling, rope winch, roof truss and bells and the ossuary. The minster is open regularly from 10.45 am, admission is free from 3-6 pm. A donation for the restoration of the vaults is requested. Guided tours of the cathedral: 3, 4, 5 pm. Guided tours "Children lead children": 3 pm (all tours at a reduced price: adults €2, children €1).
Ossuary at the Minster: 3-6 pm. Short guided tours are offered by members of the Münsterbauverein e. V. and cathedral guides.
