2024 marks the 40th anniversary of Olof Palme's state visit to Stralsund. The Hanseatic City of Stralsund would like to commemorate this important event with a commemorative lecture on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 6:00 pm.

On June 29 and 30, 1984, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Sweden, Olof Palme, visited the Hanseatic City of Stralsund and met with the GDR's Head of State and Party Leader, Erich Honecker, for official talks.

These talks focused on the international situation and in particular the Swedish Prime Minister's proposals for securing world peace. The venue was chosen by the Swedish side, not least to commemorate Sweden's historical ties with Stralsund in Vorpommern.

The 40th anniversary of the state visit will be in 2024. The Hanseatic City of Stralsund would like to commemorate this important event with a commemorative lecture on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 18:00.
