From mid-April, it will be Stone Age at the Grevesmühlen Municipal Museum. The cultural institution is dedicating a new special exhibition to archaeology and taking a look at the earliest era of human history with fairy tales, legends and science.
Dwarves, giants and the devil - Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has been home to exciting mythical creatures and fairytale legends for centuries. These stories are often linked to archaeological sites. They tell of Stone Age megalithic tombs, medieval atonement crosses and old manor houses that still seem to be haunted by ghosts from the past.
In cooperation with the Department of Prehistory and Early History at the University of Rostock and the Heinrich Schliemann Memorial in Neubukow, the Municipal Museum is presenting the special exhibition "Legendary Archaeology" for the first time. Ancient archaeological sites from the districts of Northwest Mecklenburg and Rostock are presented here, and the associated legends are told in an exciting way. Immerse yourself in history and travel back to the world of stone circles, ghosts and witches.
