From Shanghai in China to La Rochelle on the French Atlantic coast - across a total of 12 time zones and within two decades - the exceptional musicians from Karelia in Russia, Alexey and Olga Kleshchenko, have performed countless concerts and festival appearances under the name they founded - and with overwhelming success!Alexey and Olga Kleshchenko have performed countless concerts and festival appearances under the name of the ensemble they founded, EXPROMPT - and with overwhelming success!
The Kleshchenkos' children - daughter Daria and son Aleksandr - have grown up surrounded by music from an early age. They absorbed their parents' love of music with their mother's milk, so to speak. Both share their passion and decided early on to study music with the aim of conquering the world as professional artists - Daria as a concert pianist, Aleksandr as a clarinettist - both highly talented.
After a solid basic musical education in their hometown of Petrosavodsk, the siblings began studying at the Moscow Conservatory in 2018. Daria has been studying at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden since 2022 and Alexandr at the Gustav Mahler University in Klagenfurt since 2023.
With so much concentrated enthusiasm for music, the idea of combining the family's creative potential with the given, unusual instruments to develop a joint repertoire was an obvious one. It was hard work for the four Kleshchenkos. But the effort was worth it. Going far beyond the great tradition of Russian folk music, the audience can expect a special musical experience. The artists include works by classical composers such as Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Shostakovich and Bela Bartok in their concert program and succeed in building a convincing bridge between traditional and classical music!
