Haydn - Glazunov - Brahms - Piazzolla
On this first Wednesday of the festival summer, the 2016 ensemble prizewinner will make its debut as the 2024 prizewinner in residence in the baroque manor house of Hohen Luckow Castle. The SIGNUM saxophone quartet presents itself in its purest form, very close to the audience, without any other musicians. Blaž Kemperle on soprano saxophone, Jacopo Taddei on alto saxophone, Alan Lužar on tenor saxophone and Guerino Bellarosa on baritone saxophone have set out to make the differentiated timbres of their instruments transparent to the audience's ears. With their arrangement of Joseph Hadyn's String Quartet op. 33, they also offer the opportunity to hear familiar pieces in a new way without violating the intention of the original. The Intermezzo by Johannes Brahms, originally written for piano, offers a similar experience, while the pieces by Piazolla, Glasunow and others were composed directly for saxophone quartet.
