Marko Trivunović (accordion) and Anže Rupnik (saxophone) go on a musical journey through time

Marko Trivunović, accordion
Born in Novi Sad (Serbia), Marko Trivunović received his first accordion lessons at the age of six. He initially studied with Vladimir Blagojević at the University of Kragujevac and moved to the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich in 2018, where he completed his master's degree with Krassimir Sterev. In 2022, he completed his concert exam at the Freiburg University of Music in the class of Teodoro Anzellotti. During his studies, Marko Trivunović attended masterclasses with accordionists such as Hugo Noth, Stefan Hussong, Friedrich Lips, Geir Draugsvol and Iñaki Alberdi. He has taken part in renowned courses for contemporary music (Darmstadt Summer Courses, Impuls International Ensemble and Composers Academy for Contemporary Music in Graz) and worked with composers such as Rebecca Saunders, Jörg Widmann, Milica Djordjević, Mark Andre and Bernhard Gander. He has played with the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Hessian State Orchestra Wiesbaden, RSO Vienna, Symphony Orchestra Vorarlberg, Mannheim Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble XX. Jahrhundert and Ensemble Oktopus under the direction of conductors such as Alondradela Parra, Marin Alsop, Baldur Brönnimann, Leo Hussain, Peter Rundel, Leo Mc Fall, Albert Horne, Konstantia Gourzi, Boian Videnoff and Peter Burwik.

Marko Trivunović is a scholarship holder of the German Foundation for Musical Life, the DAAD, the Helene Rosenberg Foundation and the Bavarian Ministry of Science and the Arts, among others.

He performed as a finalist with the Cologne Chamber Orchestra at the German Music Competition 2022 and was awarded a scholarship and a special prize and included in the chamber music concert sponsorship program and the soloist concert sponsorship program.

Anže Rupnik saxophone
Anže Rupnik (*1996 in Celje, Slovenia) completed his studies with Prof. Daniel Gauthier at the Cologne University of Music and Dance in 2021 with top marks. Since October 2021, he has continued his concert exam studies with Prof. Gauthier. In 2015, he graduated in classical saxophone with Professor Oskar Laznik at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Anže Rupnik is a scholarship holder of the German Music Competition 2022. In 2021 he won 1st prize and the audience prize at the August Everding Competition in Munich. As part of the Xenon Quartet, the saxophonist is a special prize winner and scholarship holder of the 2017 German Music Competition. Two years earlier, he had won the International Davorin Jenko Competition Belgrade and in 2013 the 2nd prize at the International Marco Fiorindo Competition in Turin and the Golden Prize at the national Temsig Competition in Slovenia. He was also a scholarship holder of the Posavje region in Slovenia, received a German scholarship and was a scholarship holder of Yehudi Menuhin's Live Music Now Cologne from 2016 to 2019.

Anže Rupnik regularly performs as a soloist or member of various chamber music ensembles in Germany and abroad. He has been a member of the Xenon Saxophone Quartet and Ensemble 87 since 2016 and founded the Duo Anemos with accordionist Marko Trivunovic in 2023. He has appeared several times on the radio, for example on WDR and MDR, SWR, NDR and Deutschlandfunk.

He has performed with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie at venues including the Cologne Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Musikverein Vienna and the Alte Oper Frankfurt.

Anže Rupnik has played world premieres by Georg Katzer, Lisa Streich, Daniel Alvarado Bonila, Damian Scholl and Christoph Stöber and has worked with renowned contemporary composers Georg Friederich Haas, Mathias Spalinger, Jose Maria Sanchez-Verdu and Uros Rojko, among others.

Since August 2021, he has been working as a saxophone teacher and head of department at the Heinsberg Youth Music School.
