Printmaking for Friedrich

A print for Caspar David Friedrich - artists from all over Germany responded to the call from the Office for Education, Culture and Sport to send their very personal birthday greetings for Caspar David Friedrich to Greifswald in the anniversary year. In the Wolfgang Koeppen Literature Center, St. Spiritus, in the KunstLADEN of the Pommerschen Künstlerbund e.V. in Feldstraße and in the Small Town Hall Gallery, graphics will be presented that were created using classic printing techniques such as etching, woodcut, linocut or screen printing. Visitors can expect an impressive variety of artistic ideas and styles and an exciting field of participants. Many works take up motifs from Friedrich's artistic oeuvre and transform them into our present day. They also address current issues such as the war in Ukraine. One etching plate was created directly in the Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine. Works from Greifswald's twin cities Szczecin, Goleniów and Kotka are also on display in the small town hall gallery. A jury selected five prize winners from the more than 200 entries submitted. Visitors can also vote for their favorite until 30 March. The artist who receives the most votes will be awarded an audience prize on April 12 at the Koeppenhaus.
