with André Krikula as part of the 24th Long Night of Art
Andre Krikula studied music in Hamburg and Rio de Janeiro and has been leading various musical projects for many years. In addition to his preference for bossa nova (especially Baden Powell) and the tender, cool vocals of João Gilberto, influences from jazz and flamenco can be felt in his virtuoso playing, which includes original compositions and classics of bossa nova musica popular brasileira. For example, interpretations of "Berimbau" and "Canto de Xango" by Baden Powell, "Beleza Pura" by Caetano Veloso or "Samba da minha terra" by Dorival Caymmi. They are joined by pieces from a different musical cosmos - such as a samba version of "Mecki Messer" by German composer Kurt Weil. André Krikula is one of the most independent, exciting and virtuoso representatives of Brazilian guitar music in Germany - and probably far beyond. Conclusion: the gentle melancholy of the bossanova meets the virtuosity of an excellent guitarist who knows how to give the poetry and timbres of his instrument the space it deserves in emotional guitar ballads as well as in rhythmically rousing sambas.
