Heike Feist and Astrid Kohrs examine the phenomenal cultural achievement of lying with a lot of humor and subtlety and will turn the audience into a course from which all participants will benefit for a long time. (True... apparently!)
"Honesty is the best policy", as the saying goes. But is that even true? Definitely, says adult education teacher Paula. Her colleague Konstanze takes a more practical view: what's the point if something lasts a long time but causes far too many problems? If you're only honest, you make yourself unpopular. Lying, on the other hand, is wonderfully versatile! It protects friendships and boosts self-confidence. It can be used unscrupulously, but also charmingly. And if you're in dire straits, you can even lie to yourself. The adult education course "Not lying at all is no solution either" provides insights into the history and theory of an amazing cultural achievement. It touches on the 10 Commandments, stops off at Baron Münchhausen and the Potemkian villages, before finally ending up with fake doctorates, embellished profile pictures and fake news. And because all philosophical knowledge is only worth as much as its usefulness in everyday life, lying is practiced diligently in a practical section - and who knows? Maybe something true will come out of it in the end?
