Myrhauk

Myrhauk is the Norwegian name of the hawk-like bird of prey, the hen harrier, and it is the name of a new Nordicana band that comes to the Klang as a gift from Greifswald's Norwegian twin town Hamar. And if all goes well, the band will have their debut LP with their own Americana songs in the local dialect in their luggage and will celebrate the release party with us.

The band's songs are written by Magnus Østvang (rock band Return). He writes relevant and very personal lyrics that are in many ways a tribute to the ups and downs of life and to the time when most things were analog. There is a strong sense of nostalgia for the 60s and 70s, as many in Norway remember them from their youth in the countryside.

"Those were the days," says lead singer Tom E. Holmlund, "when we young people weren't afraid of arduous journeys and would walk a few kilometers to the local corner store on Saturday mornings to buy bread and milk for mom, newspapers and beer for dad and sweets for ourselves. We spent our summer vacations in the mountains in simple wooden huts built in the 50s and 60s. Everything was quieter and analog. Life, as we see it, was better back then."

In addition to Holmland, the band consists of Magnus Østvang (songwriter and composer/keyboard/guitar, bass etc.), Bjørn Thomassen (bass), Finn Andresen (drums) and Marius Book (guitars). They describe their music as Norwegian rock infused with country, Americana, blues, soul, gospel and folk rock.

About Myrhauk's EP released last year, bluesnews.no writes: "Tom Erik Holmlund has a voice that translates the blues feeling into rock in a way that is impossible to resist, and the guitars and organ playing are full of the richest Allman Brothers' joy of playing. Myrhauk, this is local rock and bluesy Americana at its best here in our country!

Cumbian Colors

Alongside salsa and tango, Colombian cumbia is the most popular dance music in Spanish-speaking America. It is loved from Chile to Nueva York - and Copenhague. And this is exactly where the band Cumbian Colors was born out of the idea of playing self-composed music without forgetting the roots of the popular Colombian cumbia music that all the band members grew up with and have been playing for decades. In recent years, cumbia has caught on with Danish audiences, so that Cumbian Colors have quickly gained great popularity and filled concert halls. When the band takes the stage, the audience is transported into a tropical world of music. This always leads to a fantastic dance party. The latest album has already been recorded and is expected to be released later this year. In 2022, Cumbian Colors were nominated for the Danish Music Award Roots as "New Name of the Year".

Tine Vitkov: clarinet & saxophone

Michael Miño: Bass

Svømmebasseng

Svømmebasseng (swimming pool) makes music to fall in love with. A world of driving rhythms, floating chord progressions and dreamy lyrics, the band has been luring audiences to Norwegian concert halls and clubs for over ten years. They are simply fun with their indie pop, which is strongly inspired by the disco of the 80s - a melange of sugary melodies, massive synth sounds and funky rhythms. "Music you just have to dance to. Pure strawberries with whipped cream", writes the student radio station Bergen.

Last year, their third album Før solen har gått ned (Before the sun went down) was released. The LP consists of ten songs that deal with various themes. From heartache, daydreams and soliloquies to utopias and dystopias, everything is included.

Before the sun goes down. All set to fluffy music. The Straze will turn into a swimming pool full of strawberries and whipped cream.
