Ms. Leonhardt tries to reflect on the ecological and social state of the earth and appeals to our responsibility for the next generations.
After a long career as a secretary, she moved in 1997 from the densely populated Ruhr area to Klein Görnow, near Sternberg, in the vast and unspoiled landscape of Mecklenburg. She was finally able to devote herself to her real interest, artistic creation. Her paintings are characterized by a great love of experimentation. She uses natural materials such as sand, gravel and wood shavings, as well as scraps of textured wallpaper or cardboard as painting surfaces in addition to canvas.
With the help of her use of color and form, she attempts to draw attention to the real and catastrophic ecological and social state of the earth. She appeals to the responsibility for ONE WORLD, for the preservation of nature and the environment, which secures the existential basis for the survival of mankind, with the claim to leave a perspective worth living for the next generations. Ms. Leonhardt's pictures are a plea for reason, against economic and military power.
