Musical

"Der Struwwelpeter" - who doesn't know it? It's the children's book by the Frankfurt doctor Heinrich Hoffmann. In 1844, he was looking for a suitable gift for his little three-year-old son and invented the story of the unkempt Struwwelpeter himself. But the book is not just about this picture story. It also tells of the fate of the Soup Punch, the thumb-sucking Konrad and the fire-breathing Paulinchen.
Are these supposed to be stories for children? Englishmen Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch asked themselves the same question over 25 years ago. Together with the rock band "The Tiger Lillies", they created a musical that confronts black pedagogy with black humor and turns the stories into wild anarchy and grotesque fun.
The congenial music of the "Tiger Lillies", which consists of a mixture of groovy rock, tomwaits-like blues, musical jazz and burlesque circus music, has made "Shockheaded Peter" one of the most successful musicals on German theater stages. Now the play can finally be seen in Güstrow.

Tickets for theater performances are also available at the tourist information offices.
