Rakow manor house is located near Grimmen. Rakow was first mentioned in 1232 in a document in which Duke Wartislaw III granted the villages of Groß- and Klein-Rakow to Doberan Monastery.
Later, part of the village belonged to the knight Ludolf von Schlagsdorf. In 1819, the estate was acquired by the von Bilow family, followed by the Anders family. They in turn sold it to Ewald Bischoff in 1912. The estate remained in the possession of the Bischoff family with approx. 778 hectares of land until it was expropriated in 1945.
The current building dates back to 1887. The manor house has stood empty since the mid-1990s and was left to decay.
The new owners have preserved it and turned it into a magical place for people, where generations meet to be happy.
In the park and forest, guests can watch, stroke and feed goats, donkeys, chickens and ducks. Archery can be learned at the archery club's outdoor range.
The Rakow manor house in the municipality of Süderholz is located in the triangle between the towns of Stralsund, Greifswald and Grimmen and is easily accessible thanks to its good infrastructure.
