Hans von Labes had the new house built on the ruins of the old one on a hill in Mecklenburg Switzerland in 1806.
After marrying Louise von Schlitz, he adopted the name of his father-in-law and was raised to the rank of count by the king. The war put the brakes on construction, which did not continue until 1812. Count von Schlitz had the 60-hectare estate with its landscaped park, 36 monuments and farm buildings renovated. The estate passed to his daughter "Adele" and son-in-law Heinrich von Bassewitz-Schlitz. In 1931, the Mecklenburgische Landwirtschaftsgesellschaft took over the estate and sold it again in 1932. After the family was expropriated in 1945, the manor house was used as refugee accommodation and a school. Today's luxury hotel with gourmet restaurant and spa still shines.
