Plüschow Castle was built in 1763 by the Hamburg merchant Philipp Heinrich von Stenglin. In 1802, the Mecklenburg hereditary prince Friedrich Ludwig acquired the castle and estates, which remained in the possession of the grand ducal family until 1945. The fine rococo stucco ceilings still bear witness to the once rich furnishings. The castle was completely renovated between 1991 and 2002. With its spacious rooms and quiet location, the castle offers ideal conditions for use as an artists' residence. It is run by the Förderkreis Schloss Plüschow e.V., founded in 1990, which has set itself the task of providing a living space for modern art with studios, workshops and exhibition rooms in the midst of the historic architecture. Two rooms on the first floor document the castle's eventful history up to the present day.
