"Here is my home, here I am at home!" These lines from the well-known "Ostseewellenlied" were penned by our local poet Martha Müller-Grählert. She was born on December 20, 1876 in Barth, Gartenstraße 57, and spent her childhood and youth in Zingst. At the age of 15, she published her first poem "Meine Heimat" in the Barth weekly newspaper. This is also representative of the focus of her prose: the sea, the beach, nature and the Pomeranian people with their endearing qualities.
On April 20, 1904, Martha Grählert, born on December 20, 1876 in Barth, and Dr. Max Müller, born on September 13, 1870 in Marbach, Flöha district, tied the knot in Berlin. We are taking this as an opportunity to hold the 33rd event on the life and work of this great writer in our museum in Barth, Lange Straße 30, on the day of their one hundred and twentieth wedding anniversary, Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 4:00 pm.
After the readings of poems, the appropriate accordion music and the moderation, we invite all participants to a cozy get-together with "food and drink".
