Lecture & Science

The event is part of a nationwide series of talks with which the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation aims to shed light on the connections between biodiversity and climate from different perspectives.

Habitats and the diversity of species must be preserved and restored not only on land, but also in our oceans. With their "underwater gardens", seas also play a central role in the global climate system, as species-rich, intact seas in particular are able to store huge amounts of CO2.

Which species and habitats in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea are particularly relevant for the conservation of biodiversity and natural climate protection? What has already been done to meet the responsibility for protecting marine species and habitats? How can we succeed in preserving and restoring marine ecosystems? What solutions are already proving successful? We want to discuss these questions with our guests at the marine garden talk in Stralsund.
