The well-known German poet and writer of Low German Fritz Reuter was born in Stavenhagen in 1810 and died in Eisenach on July 12, 1874. He is considered one of the founders of modern Low German literature. His Low German poems "Läuschen un Rimels" were first published at Christmas 1853 and still seem surprisingly fresh today thanks to their unpolished, coarsely funny and folksy characters.

Reuter wrote about his "first works": "My poems are not like distinguished people's children.... No! They are or should be... little street urchins..."

The Doberan "Low German connoisseur and expert" Hans-Peter Hahn now presents a reading of Fritz Reuter's "Läuschen un Rimels".
