Pianist Kirill Gerstein's roots combine the traditions of Russian, American and Central European music-making with his insatiable curiosity. These qualities and the relationships he has built up with orchestras, conductors, instrumentalists, singers and composers have led him to explore both new and old repertoire. From Bach to Adès, Gerstein's playing is characterized by clarity of expression, keen intelligence and virtuosity, as well as an energetic, inventive musical presence that puts him at the top of his field. Gerstein, who was born in the former Soviet Union, is an American citizen and lives in Berlin. He regularly performs worldwide with the "Who's Who" of orchestras: the Berlin Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Vienna, Los Angeles, New York, St. Petersburg, Czech, Czech and European orchestras. Petersburg, Czech, Munich and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestras, the London, Chicago, Boston and San Francisco Symphony Orchestras, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Dresden and Berlin State Orchestras, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the NDR Symphony Orchestra, the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and the Dresden and Berlin State Orchestras.
