Masterpieces of guitar music - from the Romanticism of Schubert and Chopin to the visionary language of Isaac Albeniz and the meditative dimension of Toru Takemitsu's music can be experienced on this evening in the Mechow church!
"A master of breathing and the vocal line on the guitar" is the praise with which Pizzicato Magazine praised the playing of Polish musician Jerzy Chwastyk.
The guitarist has won prizes at prestigious international competitions. These include the Concurso Sigall in Chile and the Concurso Fernando Sor in Madrid.
Jerzy Chwastyk first studied guitar in 2006 in Weimar and Berlin in Prof. Thomas Müller-Pering's master class. He gained further important impulses with Prof. Monika Rost, Prof. Tomasz Zawierucha and in numerous international master classes. He completed his concert exam in 2015.
Since then, he has performed as a soloist and chamber musician on well-known concert stages and has released several highly acclaimed CDs (one of which - "Iberian Soundscapes" - was recorded in the chamber music-friendly acoustics of the Mechow church).
On the album "dichter.liebe", recorded in 2022 with Susanne Szambelan and the actor Hanns Zischler and nominated for the Opus Klassik, Chwastyk also appeared as an arranger of Robert Schumann's songs.
Jerzy Chwastyk is also artistic director of Alma Concerts and the "Sounds of Surrender" festival in Wrocław.
