Varied program for the anniversary of the Kulturmühle Parchim

The Kulturmühle Parchim celebrates its first birthday! Almost exactly 365 days have passed since the cultural flagship project "Kulturmühle Parchim" was opened with a grandiose ceremony in May 2023.

To mark the first anniversary, International Museum Day will take place on May 19, 2024. This global day of action is held annually in May and is intended to highlight the diversity and importance of museums. The Museum of the City of Parchim will also be taking part on Whit Sunday with a program tailored to the motto "Museums, Education and Research".

From 1 p.m., guests will be welcomed to the museum's premises in the former corn mill at various themed stations where they can find out more and take part. Read old books or write with pen and ink. Discover photographic processes and play board games for everyone.

At around 1.30 pm, museum director Benjamin Kryl will welcome you to the permanent exhibition for an in-depth guided tour, including extensive background knowledge and numerous anecdotes.

At 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. you can experience interactive sound history in the sound studio on the 2nd floor. In the recording studio, everyday objects are used to tell the sound story "Hugo, the mill ghost" together. An analog recording is produced with a cassette recorder. There is also the option of recording it digitally with your own cell phone.

"Parchim memories" is then the theme from 3.30 pm in the permanent exhibition on the fourth floor. In cooperation with the Parchimer Heimatbund, you are invited to take part in small discussion groups to trace shared memories.

All events in the permanent exhibition are subject to the normal admission charge of 5 euros per person, reduced admission 3 euros. Admission to the interactive sound history is free.

The inclusive MAHLWERK restaurant is always open for refreshments. Guests can enjoy the view from the terrace overlooking a side arm of the Elde-Müritz waterway.

Those who want to extend the evening at the Kulturmühle can attend the 3rd chamber concert in the Kulturmühle's theater hall. Christoph Moinian on the horn, Lutong Zhang on the violin and Frank Monster on the piano will play works for horn, violin and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. Tickets for this event are available from the tourist information office, at the box office in the Kulturmühle or in the Mecklenburg State Theater's online store.
